Magic Pearl

The boat is a 1979, 60' steel Bruce Robert's 53E modified plan.  Initially built by Gene Kelly and his reluctant wife in Corona California.  He had plans for it to be a welding vessel with it's primary use to be in the Mexican Rivera.  Therefore is was aptly named the boat the "Vagabond Arc".  Mr. Kelley abandoned the boat in La Paz, Mexico and through a series of events it landed in Charleston, Oregon for eight years.

In the summer of  2008 Kimbalina and her partner bought the derelict mess.  The couple named it the "Magic Pearl" after a Chinese story regarding the creation of all shipping as it is known today.  The boat needed colossal repairs which have been occurring over the past years.
